Joe Spitale
Guitar, Vocal

Joe grew up playing guitar in rock and punk bands in Southern California. After high school, he attended the Musicians' Institute in Hollywood, where a he began vocal training. Although a lifelong ahtheist, he toured with christian rock bands Undercover and Nobody Special during the late 80s before changing direction and obtaining a degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology. Graduate school brought him to Tucson in the mid 90s.

Curt Pleiss
Drums

Curt is a recent transplant to Tucson from the Denver area. He brings a wealth of experience across many genres both live and in the studio. He has a project studio called Ocotillo Audio where he does drum tracking and mixing for Radio Tucson as well as remote clients. He also plays in the Tucson-based instrumental surf band Desert Undertones.

Jason Schrieber
Bass

Jason is a multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist interested in the relationships between music, culture, and the natural world. His musical background encompasses a wide range of ensembles, traditions, and artforms, including Trinidadian steel band, 1920s traditional jazz on tenor banjo, and balalaika orchestra. His interests also extend to zoomusicology and the study of musical behavior and communication among non-humans.

He took up electric bass specifically to join Radio Tucson, building on earlier experience with other bass instruments, including upright bass and contrabass balalaika. His diverse musical background continues to inform his approach to the instrument and his curiosity about the possibilities of sound.
